The overall mission of the church, Jesus tells us, is to make disciples (followers) for him, teaching all to do as he has taught us (Matthew 28:18-20). We strive to do this in all we do throughout all our lives.

Our parish Pumpkin Patch project raises money for the Bourne Food Pantry each fall. In recent years we have contributed about $7000 per year. Many hours of volunteer time go into this project, which we also enjoy as a way of getting to better know our community.

Other local outreach ministries include: Preparing and serving a Thanksgiving Dinner at Cataumet UMC each year, participating in Habitat for Humanity, and a Family to Family Christmas project that provides gifts for families in need. We support children in Haiti through  regular monthly offerings in each church, and we contribute and assemble health kits and other items for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).

Many organizations use our space for meetings and gatherings. Both churches provide space for several AA and NA meetings, and Cataumet also provides space for a weekly Al-Anon meeting. Three exercise classes meet each week at Cataumet UMC. Other community groups that use one or both churches include Brownies, Bourne Women’s Club, and the Saints and Singers Community Choir.
